LYRA Yearbook is a client apparel graphics project created for LYRA Modest, a forward-thinking fashion brand that blends contemporary design with modestwear for a global audience. Known for its bold vision and commitment to empowering individuality, LYRA approached me to design bespoke graphics for its LYRA Yearbook varsity jacket series.
My role focused specifically on designing the custom graphics for the jackets, including patch concepts, lettering, and symbolic details. LYRA’s in-house team, led by Head of Design Holly, was responsible for the final colour direction, production, printing, garment execution, social media graphics, video content and wider campaign rollout.
Making varsity feel modest, youthful and wearable
The challenge was to create graphics that felt youthful, expressive and culturally resonant, while still aligning with LYRA’s modern yet elegant brand identity. The graphics needed to bring energy and personality to the jackets without overpowering the garments themselves, creating a balance between statement-making visual design and wearable fashion.
The project began by working from a creative direction shared by LYRA’s team through Pinterest, which helped establish the visual world, mood and references for the collection. Alongside this, I carried out independent research into LYRA’s existing brand identity, audience and visual tone to ensure the graphics felt connected to their world rather than simply borrowing from traditional varsity culture.
The details had to mean something
The creative direction centred around reimagining the varsity jacket as a modestwear statement piece. Rather than treating the graphics as decoration, each element was designed to help tell a story of confidence, individuality and community. This included custom patches, expressive lettering, embroidered-style graphics and symbolic details that gave the jackets a sense of identity and meaning.
One of the key visual elements was the Palestine watermelon badge, which added cultural and emotional depth to the collection. This detail helped connect the jackets to broader conversations about identity, solidarity, and self-expression, while still fitting naturally within the overall visual system.
The jackets didn’t stay quiet
The final jackets brought together bold varsity-inspired graphics with LYRA’s modest, modern and community-led aesthetic. Through Holly’s final colour direction and LYRA’s production process, the graphics were translated into physical garments that felt expressive, wearable and aligned with the collection’s wider visual direction.
Beyond the physical jackets, the designs were incorporated into LYRA Modest's social media rollout on Instagram and TikTok. Across both platforms, the campaign generated 432,957 total views and 31,268 active engagements, demonstrating the strength of the overall collection in capturing attention, driving interaction and resonating with LYRA’s audience.
